MALMESBURY’S karting ace Louis Harvey was among racers who showed their support for Billy Monger around motor racing circuits at the weekend.

Louis proudly displayed #billywizz stickers on his kart and #23 on his helmet in tribute to Billy who had risen through the ranks of karting.

The previous weekend Monger had crashed in a F4 race at Donington Park resulting in the 17-year-old having both legs amputated.

Every driver has been helping to fundraise for Billy’s appeal at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/billymonger23.

With a break in the Super One series Louis kept his eye in by taking in the second round of the Rissington Championships.

After an action-packed set of heats, including when he was spun off the track after being hit from behind when in the lead, Louis started from fourth on the grid in the final.

Soon after the start it became a duel between 12-year-old Louis and his year-older rival Zak Oates.

Louis put in the fastest lap chasing the leader down, but try as he might he could not get off the bumper of leader Oates who defended his advantage at every opportunity.

They passed the chequered flag with 800th of a second separating them, Oates pipping Harvey.

Drivers and supporters at the Rissington Kart Club over the weekend raised more than £620 for Billy Monger in a massive show of support.
