North Wilts Youth League Div Two
Ashton Keynes U17s 1
Stratton Youth U17s 4

STRATTON Youth Under-17s maintained their title challenge with a comfortable victory over an Ashton side with nothing but pride at stake.

Stratton are currently two points clear at the top of the table hoping that Croft slip up in their final game at home to Hungerford, which would give Stratton the title.

Stratton scored two goals in each half while Ashton could manage only a consolation.

Ashton started brightly with Lee Plaistow and Harrison Grisley putting nice balls into the box.

However, these crosses were wasted and it wasn’t long before Stratton stamped their authority on the match.

A deep cross from Mike McCarten on the left was met by Sam Brewster with a precise header at the far post to put Stratton 1-0 up.

Ashton Keynes came more into the game with their direct style forcing a number of corners, but they were all comfortably dealt with by 'keeper Meichel Wright and the defence.

The visitors were more threatening when they moved the ball quickly and with half-time approaching a low cross by Brewster from the right was met at the far post by Tom Puddifoot to double the lead.

The lead was extended in the second half when a throw in at the back was miscontrolled gifting Stratton striker Jethro Kingsley with an opportunity he did not miss.

Ashton briefly showed some fight with a well-worked goal made by David Arnett and finished by Adam Robbins at the back post.

Stratton had the final say scoring a fourth through Brewster before the final whistle to round off a comprehensive victory.
