Cirencester Golf Club
Queen Mother’s Shield
STUART STANCOMBE has won one of the first trophies of the Cirencester Golf Club season, the Queen Mother’s Shield.
Three players could not be separated at the top of the leaderboard after scoring a splendid 41 points in the 18-hole stableford event – Stancombe, Graham Miller and Graham Hewitt, who has been noted putting in some serious short game practice of late.
But it was Stancombe, father of successful local eventing rider Jack, who jumped to the top of the pile on countback.
This trio were followed home by Rob Worthington (40), Tom Waller (39) and Andy Brereton (39).
Just six birdie twos were recorded: 2nd hole -- Nick J Brown; 11th – Andy Brereton, Glenn Skinley, Rob Worthington; 13th – Nicholas Brown, John Hall.
