BOURTON Roadrunner’s John Gibson will be running his 25th consecutive London Marathon this weekend.

Over the years John, who’s supported many other Bourton club mates in their first marathon, has entertained the crowds in fancy dress.

He’s run as one of the Three Musketeers, the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, the crocodile from Peter Pan, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Shakespeare’s Hamlet and, most memorably, as part of a Chinese Dragon.

This year, he’s running it “straight” and aims to enjoy the atmosphere as he says it’s his last London Marathon.

Other Bourton Roadrunners taking part in the London Marathon are: Linda Edwards (fundraising for the Mad Hatters Children’s Charity), Gary Holton (fundraising for Water Aid), Steph Holton, Susan Hunt, Kerry Taylor (fundraising for Great Western Air Ambulance), David Turnbull, and Catherine Wheeler.

If anyone’s looking for an endurance challenge closer to home, Bourton Roadrunners will be hosting the 10th Humph’s Hilly Half Marathon on June 17 at 6pm.

The race is part of this year’s GlosAAA road race series and entries are currently being taken on the Entry Central website.
