MORETON-in-Marsh runner Steve Edwards is hoping to establish a new landmark world record at this year’s London Marathon, by becoming the first person in the world to run 700 official marathon races all inside
3hours and 30minutes.
Since running his first marathon back in the 80s and vowing never again, the 54-year-old-athlete has achieved many extreme multi marathon records, including setting the fastest average finish time to run 500, 600 and 700 official marathon races.
This will be Steve's 22nd London marathon appearance, and if all goes to plan this could be his 700th sub 3hrs30mins, which will further improve his record for running 700 marathons in the fastest average finish time.
Steve's ultimate ambition is to set a new record for running 1000 marathons in the fastest average finish time.
His current total is 777 with an average of 3hrs 17min which spans the last 29 years and equates to one every 13 days.
