WILTSHIRE-based eventing legend Sir Mark Todd will line up for the Pertemps Champions Willberry Charity Race at Cheltenham on Thursday at 6.15 after the last official race of the afternoon programme.

Voted Rider of the 20th Century by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI), Sir Mark has won two Olympic gold medals, four Badminton titles and five at Burghley.

He is one of New Zealand's greatest sportsmen and in 2016 competed at his seventh Olympic games. He was knighted in 2013.

Sir Mark will take part alongside a field which includes Olympic eventing silver medallist Tina Cook and TV presenter and accomplished equestrian Alice Fox-Pitt, as well as members of the public who were selected from more than 600 applicants.

The race hopes to raise £100,000 to be split evenly between the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and Hannah's Willberry Wonder Pony charity.

The previous evening there will be another post-racing charity event – this time a game of football at Cheltenham Town's Whaddon Road.

Sir AP McCoy's jockeys' team, managed by Harry Redknapp, will face a Cheltenham Town Legends side, guided by John Ward.

McCoy has corralled ringers like ex-Premier League striker Francis Jeffers, former Aston Villa and England player Lee Hendrie and Darren Byfield, to play alongside himself and the jockeys.

Ex-Robins manager Ward has called on the likes of Grant McCann, Michael Duff and and Mark Yates, who was boss at Whaddon Road for five years.
