IT IS almost a year since well known Swindon PE teacher Iain Perkins died unexpectedly.

Iain, who taught at Hreod Parkway School for 38 years, enjoyed playing golf in retirement so a small group of his friends have organised a charity golf day to commemorate his life.

The event will be held at South Cerney Golf Course on Friday, April 21 with the proceeds going to The British Heart Foundation.

The response to the event has been fantastic and is in itself a great tribute to Iain.

Some 104 players have entered and the organisers have now had to close the event to further applicants.

Putting and boule competitions will also take place on the day along with a raffle and an auction of promises.

Iain played rugby for Cirencester for many years and was well known in the local rugby community. Players from all local clubs will turn out in force as will friends from his home village of Wanborough.

The event will also be attended by a large group of non golfers, friends and family who are coming to support the day. The organising group are confident of raising a tidy sum for the BHF.

However, if you are unable to attend and wish to contribute, you can do so at https.//giftofhope.bhf.org.uk/Iain-Perkins-Memorial.

You can also follow the event on Facebook, where you can bid in advance for some fantastic lots in the auction of promises.
