BLUNSDON have been confirmed as champions of the M4 Karting Cirencester & District League Division Two, writes Phil Rice.

With one game left they cannot be caught after their 4-3 away victory at Stratton Utd on Saturday.

Sherston, Oaksey and Minety, who have finished second, third and fourth respectively, will be disappointed that they forfeited silly points against lower league rivals.

Kingshill Sports and Stratton were always in the mix but Down Ampney seemed to fall away a bit as the season progressed.

The Division One championship is there to be lost by The Beeches even after their surprise defeat to county cup finalists Siddington at the weekend.

The Beeches, with one to play, put themselves in a strong position when beating their main rivals Intel on March 18.

Intel have two games in hand of The Beeches but have a much inferior goal difference. The two sides are due to meet tomorrow in the semi-final of the Alexcars Senior Charities Cup, with the winners taking on either Ashton Keynes or South Cerney in the other hard-to-call semi next week.

Beeches play Wheatsheaf at home in the league on April 15 while Intel play struggling basement side Lechlade twice and finish off on April 15 at Ashton Keynes.

They will be looking for a couple of big wins against Lechlade to stand any chance of taking the title.

The Beeches meet Hatherop in the CIA Arthur Shipway Cup final at Cirencester Town on April 25.

The cups also see Oaksey play Sherston in the CIA Junior Charities Cup semi-final and then Kingshill Sports in the postponed CIA Mills-Roberts Cup semi-final.

Sherston were disappointed to go out of the Mills-Roberts Cup against Minety, who are now in the way of Blunsdon’s attempt at a league and cup double.
