Corsham Town 2

Malmesbury Vics 0

MALMESBURY VICS failed to hit the heights of recent weeks and lost 2-0 at the Southbank against near-neighbours Corsham Town.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, Corsham pressed very well and worked really hard for one another.

Playing into a strong first-half wind, the Vics were limited to one speculative 45-yard effort from Krystian Hext.

Things improved for the visitors in the second 45 but they failed to put away their two good chances.

Jamie Packer capitalised on a weak back header but his chip beat keeper Snoddy and the bar. And Ed Wilkins' shot from 15 yards was tipped over after good work from Packer.

Corsham also struggled to create much going forward but they did take the lead on 81 minutes when a shot inside the box was well saved by Ant Brown although he could not prevent the follow-up being slotted home by Josh Bright.

The Vics were pressing hard for an equaliser when not given a foul on the edge of Corsham's box and they were overrun on the quick counter with the hosts doubling their lead.

Malmesbury Vics: Brown, Hughes, Baker, Hext, Chandler, Peare, Packer, Bazley, Wilkins, Bond, Russell. Subs: Cook, Jenner, Kenny, Collins.
