Evo-Stik Southern Premier

Cirencester Town 2

Redditch United 1

CIRENCESTER Town, battling for their lives to retain their Southern Premier status, made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 success over Redditch United.

Dan Demkiv had given the hosts the lead in just 11 seconds with a goal-of-the-season candidate – a rising right-foot drive into the top corner.

It became 10 v 10 when both Jordan Cullinane-Liburd and Aidan Bennett were shown red cards after an-off the ball incident in the 51st minute.

But Cirencester appeared to make their task comfortable with an Alan Griffin header in the 68th minute, only for Redditch to pull one back against the run of play in the 78th minute through a Dior Angus header.

Their celebration was low-key and mid-table Redditch continued to look like a side with nothing to play for, whereas the wise old heads of Cirencester – Griffin, Coupe and Mortimer-Jones – kept their side focussed to see out time and deservedly earn three points.

Bennett’s three-match ban will be a blow though, given how he has taken to the second striker role in the last two games.
