Cirencester Hockey Club

Juniors' section - U12 girls

CIRENCESTER Hockey Club's Under-12 girls have been crowned county champions.

Cirencester started the tournament slowly with a 1-1 draw against Wotton-under-Edge but confidence grew and they won their pool comfortably with superb performances from Jess Stephens and Emilia Lewis.

In the semi-final against East Glos, nerves were calmed quickly with two quick goals from Floss Ellen, while Mimi Green, Georgina Macmichael and Anna Wateridge were imperious in the 6-0 victory.

Against Cheltenham in the final, Jess Stephens collected her 13th goal of the tournament to 1-0 lead at half-time, before Olivia Vyvyan-Robinson added the second.

Excellent work from Tinka Barber and Hermione Brewster boosted Cirencester who scored two more goals to run out 4-0 winners, earning themselves the county champions title.

U14 girls

CIRENCESTER'S U14 girls have made it to the England Hockey Regional Finals, hosted by Leicester HC on Sunday, April 2, after beating Old Bristolians in the semi-final.

Cirencester ran out 3-0 winners in cold and extremely windy conditions. Injuries forced numerous changes, but defensively Cirencester closed ranks, with ‘keeper Maddie Banfield producing some amazing saves.

A strong midfield performance from Megan Poole and Hannah Jackson enabled Cirencester to dominate possession.

Numerous shots were saved by the hardworking OBs keeper but clinical and powerful shooting from attacking midfielder Flora Fletcher was too hot to handle, securing her a hat-trick in the convincing 3-0 victory.
