ALEX CREASE'S stunning net 61 was good enough to win the March Medal at Cirencester Golf Club by four clear shots.
Scot Alex has found his 21 handicap reduced by three shots after his runaway success – and there is no chance of a referendum.
Division Two winner Richard Hicks was the overall runner-up ahead of third-placed James Bathurst, who lifted Division One with a net 66 and only missed out on the best gross score by a shot to Darren Robison's 74.
An out-of-bounds tee shot on 15 cost Bathurst the overall gross victory and he will be ruing his decision to opt out of the 'twos' competition as he birdied both 11 and 13. The best divisional scores were as follows:
Division One - 1, James Bathurst (75-09 = 66); 2, Nigel Curtis (78-10 = 68); 3, Paul Cox (78-10 = 68); 4, Steve Bishop (75-06 = 69).
Division Two - 1, Richard Hicks (80-15 = 65); 2, John Morris (80-12 = 68); 3, Andy Bell (81-12 = 69); 4, Dave Jones (80-11 = 69).
Division Three - 1, Alex Crease (82-21 = 61); 2, Andrew Miles (84-16 = 68); 3, 3, Robert Brown (87-19 = 68); 4, Chris Bruton (86-17 = 69).
Birdie twos were posted at the following holes: 2nd: Andy Bell, Steve Bishop, Evan Drayton, Richard Hicks, Robert Simmonds; 9th: Gerry Coetzee, John Davies; 11th , John Appleby, James Bathurst, Evan Drayton; 13th James Bathurst, Paul Cox, Nigel Curtis, Jordan Laycock.
No one birdied the 18th.
