Bowood 10k
BOWOOD offered a beautiful setting for its 10k race. The tough, hilly, muddy route took the competitors around the stunning grounds of Bowood House and more than 300 runners – including 12 RSE ladies and one gent – took up the challenge.
Sharon Smith came in first for the club in 52.58 (first FV65), followed by Kirsty Pitts 53.41 (second FV45), Paul Coates 55.41 (back from injury in his first race for more than a year), Sarah Gray 1:02.00, Ruth Herbert 1:03.22, Tracy Edginton 1:07.19, Caroline Coates and Tracey Pitts 1:09.01, Pauline Tilbury 1:10.44, Sallie Clatworthy 1:11.05, Caroline Terry 1:14.17, Jenny Hoffman 1:18.00 and Elspeth Murano 1:49.38.
Gloucester 20
MORE than 400 runners competed in the Gloucester 20-miler on Sunday.
The race took the runners on an undulating three-lap course, starting and finishing at Waterwells Business Park in Quedgeley and taking in the surrounding villages.
There were brilliant results from three RSE ladies with Amelia Culshaw coming in first for the club in 2:37.35 (PB by 31 minutes, and second FV40), followed by Elaine Chapman 2:56.11 (PB) and Nadine Brown 3:00.42, on her first effort at the distance.
Forest of Dean Spring Half-Marathon
THE popular Forest of Dean Half-Marathon brought more than 2,500 competitors to this beautiful part of the country.
First home for the club was Fatima Birkett in 2:09.26, followed by Kate Potter 2:28.46 and Louise Abbott 2:36.06.
Highworth 5-mile
NEARLY 300 runners ran in this year's Highworth 5-mile race with four RSE members among them.
The first three miles of the course took the runners on a slow descent around country lanes before heading up a long steep hill back towards Highworth.
First home for the club was Martyn Joyce who finished in 34.40, followed by Martin Pitts (38.01), Berna Berntzen (43.20) and Laura Butler (57.47).
Reading Half-Marathon
MARK MANLEY and Jonathan Lewis took on the challenge of this year's popular Reading Half-Marathon on Sunday.
Starting in the stunning parkland of Green Park, the runners were then taken along the streets of Reading before finish to the applause of the crowd at the Madejski Stadium.
Mark came in first for the club and finished in 1.32.42 followed by Jonathan (1:49.22).
