Purton 4
North Leigh Utd 0
PURTON extended their recent un-beaten run of league and cup games with a 4-0 victory over North Leigh United which sees them move into fourth place in the league table, writes Alan Eastwood.
Manager Justin Miller had to do without Joe Dorey, Matt Bennett, Joe and Ed Herbert for this game against a depleted North Leigh outfit who had to field just nine players due to a car breakdown.
North Leigh battled well and saw their stand-in keeper make some good saves, while Purton were guilty of wasting a number of chances on the poor playing surface.
Joe Hiscock put Purton ahead after 25 minutes and Pete McGunigall, with a great low shot, made it 2-0 on 40 minutes.
Right on half-time Jamie Sheppard added another for 3-0.
Purton added only one more goal after the break netted by Tom McCulloch on 53 minutes.
Daniel Allen, Ben Parsons and Dave Gee all played their first games of the season, with Allen collecting Purton’s man of the match award.
On Saturday, Purton travel to Woodstock Town (3pm kick-off).
