CIRENCESTER, Lechlade, Chedworth, Langford and Slaughters are among 29 Gloucestershire clubs who will be able to improve their grounds and facilities thanks to the England and Wales Cricket Trust’s (EWCT) small grant scheme.

Cirencester will use their £3,103 towards kitchen and social areas and Lechlade (£1,000) for side sheets, while Chedworth (£3,800), Slaughters (£1,000) and Oxfordshire's Langford CC (£3,360) – who have a GL7 postcode – will put the money towards covers.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S visually impaired cricket team has been given a boost ahead of the new season after receiving £1,000 from the Sports Foundation for the Disabled.

With the “Growlers” facing away matches as far afield as Lancashire and Staffordshire, the funding will be used to help with travel costs.

The Growlers were formed in 2012 and are based at Hatherley and Reddings CC. They play in the North and West Regional League and made the first ever cup final in 2016.

Blind cricket is played with a size three football which has a ball bearing inside and larger stumps.
