North Cotswold Tri & Run

Bourton 10k.

CHRISTOPHER KRZYWIEC was first runner home for North Cotswold Tri & Run at the Bourton 10k on Sunday.

Chris finished in a pleasing 10th place overall and third senior male with a new PB time of 35.05.

'A friendly but fast-paced run through an iconic Cotswold backdrop' and 'a fabulously-organised local race with enthusiastic and encouraging marshals' were just two of the comments made by NCTR runners.

Club mate Dennis Walmsley had another close battle with his main MV50 rival, the in-form Jeremy Mower from Gloucester, but lost out by just eight seconds to finish second MV50 in a time of 36.57.

Mike Hobbs finished in 39.13 just pipping the first NCTR lady home, Lucy Walmsley, who won her FV40 category and placed 10th overall.

The rapidly improving Al Holt followed closely in a new PB finish time of 40.09. Yet another PB performance came from Kate Krzywiec, who paced it very well for 40.48 to finish third FV40.

The NCTR ladies' team was helped to eighth place out of 42 teams by Viv D'Alton with a finish time of 51.22. Roger Day completed the men's team with a 53.13 finish and was eighth MV65 in what was a quality race in that veterans' category.

Other second claim runners competing for their first claim club, Claire Harrison and Marianne Badger, crossed the line in 43.59 and 46.41 (PB) respectively.

Heartbreaker Marathon, Godshill, New Forest.

STEVE EDWARDS travelled to Godshill in the New Forest to run his 768th competitive marathon race.

The Heartbreaker Trail Marathon involves running three loops of a demanding course along gravel tracks with several steep climbs and descents.

It was tough going throughout and Steve was both pleased and relieved to finish in 3:28.01 for second MV50 and 16th place overall.

More importantly, it was his 690th sub 3:30 marathon as he strives for a world record 700 marathons in time for the London Marathon if all goes to plan.
