IT'S two in and two out at Malmesbury Vics ahead of Saturday's game away at second-placed Cheddar.

Vics manager Kev Bridgeman has signed Nick Chandler and Jon Bazley from troubled Corsham Town who play in the same Toolstation Western League first division, while both Chris Salt and Lee Fernandez have left the club in the opposite direction.

"We are absolutely delighted that Nick and Jon have opted to join us and they both go straight into the squad on Saturday," said Bridgeman.

"Both lads played against us earlier in the season and have been on our radar for a little while.

"Nick is a robust centre half and will strengthen that area immensely, and Jon is a creative midfielder with an eye for goal that again will boost the midfield options.

"The boys are both still only young and had attracted strong interest from other Western League sides so we are pleased to get them."

Corsham manager Nigel Tripp has recently been removed from his post, causing a rift at committee level and the calling of an extraordinary general meeting at the club on March 2.

The third-from-bottom side were forced to postpone last Friday's scheduled derby against Calne Town in the wake of a number of players leaving the club.

Former Melksham Town and Wiltshire U18s boss Mel Gingell is believed to be in temporary charge.

Of the two players he is losing to Corsham, Bridgeman said: "Chris is top scorer this term for Sherston in the Cirencester and District League and is a very good friend of mine.

"He was really signed for us in case Sherston didn’t have a game or I was desperately short.

"However he works with one of Corsham’s current players and they have asked him to sign for them to help out until the end of the season when available.

"Lee has just got himself a new job and as such isn’t now available every Saturday. Again he is friendly with some current Corsham players and is known to the club from previous seasons. It will be a shame for both of them to leave us, and they depart with our very best wishes for the remainder of the season."
