Glos AAA Cross Country

SOME RSE members braved the mud and water at the Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country race at Pittville Park in Cheltenham on Saturday.

Our only male running the 9k course was Stephen Priestnall who finished in 41.41. The ladies ran in the 6k event with Sharon Smith coming in first for the club in 35.28 (third FV65), followed by Fatima Birkett (37.56), Ruth Herbert (41.50) and Kate Potter (46.04).

Also running was Louise Abbott (46.04 – second claim).

Run for Chocolate 10k

PAULINE TILBURY competed on Saturday in the Run for Chocolate 10k, at Dorney Lake in Windsor.

This 10k race was not timed but it encouraged runners of all ages and abilities, who were then rewarded at the end with a warm, luxury hot chocolate. Pauline finished in 1:01.

Chilly 10k

FIVE RSE runners took part in the 9 Bar Chilly 10k on Sunday at the Castle Coombe circuit.

More than 400 competitors ran in this three-lap, flat fast course. First home for the club was Dave Witnall who finished in 42.44, followed by Martin Pitts (46.18), Nadine Brown (49.41), Kirsty Pitts (50.41), Ellie Taylor (53.15 – PB) and Caroline Terry (1:05.44 – third FV60).

Chilly Duathlon

Also competing at Castle Coombe was Karl Breakspear in the duathlon, which consisted of a two-mile run/10-mile cycle/two-mile run. Karl finished in 1:03.57.

Bramley 20

ANDY MASSER competed at the Bramley 20 on Sunday. More than 800 runners took part in this popular event, along fairly flat rural roads in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Andy finished in 2:29.17.

Calne Smartt Smasher

PHIL SCOBLE ran in his first 10k at the Calne Smartt Smasher on Sunday. The course was an out-and-back, off road, fairly flat 10k run along the scenic national cycle path from Calne to Stanley. Phil finished in 52.01 (PB).
