Gloucester Three

Norton 3

Tetbury 12

TETBURY recorded back-to-back league wins and completed the double over Norton with a hard-fought success.

Tetbury put in a huge first half but wasted opportunities to get on the score board.

The Tetbury pack, led superbly by Billy Udall, had the upper hand on Norton with fellow back row players Ant Jaep and Lorien Waite a nuisance throughout.

The Tetbury front row of Tom Seal, Caine Pawlowski and Charlie Eddolls consistently pushed the Norton pack backwards and after repeated infringements a home prop was yellow-carded in the 22nd minute.

Despite the advantage Tetbury could still not register any points.

A minute before half-time Ben Curtis saw yellow for a late tackle on the Norton scrum half, who in turn saw red for retaliation.

Norton opened the scoring with a penalty after 46 minutes before Tetbury finally got the first try.

Great link-up play by Andy Meredith and the Tetbury pack saw Jaep going over with young starlet Matt Niblett adding the extra two points.

Subsequently fantastic defence was required from Scott Seal, Giles Dixon and Harri Sayers as they frustrated Norton who conceded another yellow on 62 minutes.

Tireless work from the Waite brothers and the pace of Niblett saw the Tetbury fly half add another try on 64 minutes.

For the last 10 minutes Norton looked for a hole in the watertight visiting defence, but time and time again Tetbury tackled anything that moved and in the final few minutes they eventually closed the game down to win 12-3.

Tetbury coach Stephen Knight said: "I was especially pleased with the tremendous work rate of the pack and how they took the hard work from the training paddock into the game.

"The usually free-running backs also contributed to a huge defensive effort.

"Man-of-the-match Caine Pawlowski demonstrated the improved maturity of the pack with a fine controlled game."
