Alexcars Senior Charities Cup
Hatherop 3
Poulton 2
HATHEROP'S late winner saw off Poulton on Saturday but with only one win apiece in the round robin stages neither side has progressed to the knockout element of the Senior Charities Cup.
It was a much better display from Hatherop who were able to field a strong side for the first time in weeks.
The home side opened the scoring when some great footwork in the box by Chris Saunders was ended when he was brought down for a penalty, which was slotted home by Richie Crocker.
Poulton replied with a header to make it one piece then man-of-the-match Jake Page smashed a low effort into the corner from inside the box.
Poulton, who were on the back foot for most of the game, nonetheless levelled to make it 2-2 when the Hatherop defenders failed to deal with a cross.
And only a last-ditch tackle from Dave Legg prevented Steve Andrews from making it three for the visitors.
Endless pressure at the other end eventually paid off, however, when a Rob Stewart header from a corner gave Hatherop the winner.
The Poulton goals came from Peter Griffiths and Dan Read.
