MINCHINHAMPTON (New) Golf Club is once again opening its fairways for newcomers to get involved with the sport through free taster sessions.

The lessons, which are being run as part of England Golf's 'Get into Golf' campaign, begin in March and are open to all, male or female, young or old.

The aim is to take participants from total beginner to full member at one of the friendliest and most welcoming clubs in the country.

No experience is necessary, all equipment will be provided and those taking part will be issued with a temporary membership card and a range practice card.

William Lee, club coordinator at Minchinhampton Golf Club, said: "We have been running free taster lessons for the past three years, taking players from complete beginner through several stages to full club membership with an official handicap.

"Golf recognises that it always needs to encourage newer participants into the sport and our welcoming programme allows people to establish their potential in a fun, relaxed and non-judgmental environment.

"More than 100 people have taken part in taster lessons since we first started and 60 of them have progressed to become full members of the club.

"They are playing an ever larger role in club life as they continue to improve their game.
