Gloucester Three

Tetbury 73

Gloucester All Blues 3

TETBURY RFC celebrated their Vice Presidents' Day with a comprehensive dismantling of Gloucester All Blues on a freezing afternoon.

All Blues took an early lead with a penalty after three minutes when Tetbury had strayed offside – it was to be the visitors' final score.

Two minutes later Tetbury scored their first try through the mobile Ben Curtis.

Charlie Eddolls and Giles Dixon returned to the Tetbury side after being unavailable for several weeks and both put in solid performances in wearing down All Blues, along with the dependable pair, Caine Pawlowski and Andy Meredith.

It took until the 27th minute before the scoreboard moved again as Tetbury failed to turn their authority into points.

When the try came it was veteran Tom Seal who showed his experience to go over after great work from the pack.

Further tries from man-of-the-match Ryan Leather and Matt Niblet took the half-time score to 24-3 in favour of Tetbury. With the bonus point secured, the team grew in confidence.

In the second half fine work by the returning Lorien Waite and Ant Jaep created further tries for Niblet and Leather with talismanic centre Harri Sayers getting in on the act with a brace of strikes.

Scott Seal also went over as Tetbury chalked up 11 tries in total to record a 73-3 win.

A first team debut from the bench for Sam Trinder and continued great leadership from captain Billy Udall topped off a successful return to winning ways as a Tetbury moved back to third in the table.

Coach Stephen Knight said: "It was a great display of attacking rugby on our Vice Presidents' Day.

"Given the freezing conditions the boys played well to secure the maximum five points with some fantastic tries after a physical first half.

"With cup and league games now every Saturday it was nice to give everyone a run out ready for the busy schedule ahead. All credit must go to this fantastic group of players."
