FAIRFORD Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Clanfield in a closely-fought Cinder Lane encounter on Saturday afternoon, writes Chris Tanner.
A tight first half saw the hosts denied the advantage when a penalty from Josh Morse was well saved.
The teams went in 0-0 at the break with the Reds knowing a win would lift them to the summit of Division One West.
And when Matt Boucher's 64th minute strike put Fairford ahead, it looked like that goal would be achieved.
However an equaliser from Jack Kennedy restored parity for the visitors – and that's how it stayed to leave Fairford in second, two points behind the leaders.
Fairford host Premier Division side Flackwell Heath on Tuesday (7.45pm) in the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup Quarter Final.
