PLAYERS and teams from 33 different clubs received awards at the 2016 Bank House Gloucestershire County Cricket League (GCCL) presentation evening.

Gloucestershire spinner Tom Smith presented the trophies to winners from the league’s seven divisions at an event held at Cheltenham Civil Service CC.

He also took part in an onstage interview with the Gloucestershire Cricket Board’s Luke Sellers in which he offered an interesting insight into the art of spin bowling.

Division One champions Cirencester celebrated their promotion to the West of England Premier League (WEPL) after finishing as runners-up in four of the last six years – and only missing out due to the league restructure in 2015.

They also dominated the individual prizes in the top division with Jamie Jamieson-Black taking home the batting trophy, Tom Fullalove being named joint Bowler of the Year with Westbury-on-Severn’s Dan Hockaday and Matt Carter sharing the fielding award with Redmarley’s Stewart Hudd.

Hatherley and Reddings second XI achieved the unusual double of being both the Division Two champions and winning the division’s Fair Play award.

Apperley also received two awards as they were named best pitch in both Division One and Five.

An 11-strong table from the Gloucestershire Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers (GACUS) were present to witness Dominic Jeffcott scoop the first ever Umpire of the Year prize.

The result was based on captains' reports from Division One and Two games with appointed umpires.

In addition to the clubs, other guests included Andy O’Connor from league sponsors Bank House Investment Management, Phil Carter (chairman of the Cotswold District Cricket Association) and journalist Steve Hill who provides PR support during the season.
