Gloucestershire FA Challenge Trophy

Bristol Telephones 1

Fairford Town 3

FAIRFORD Town booked a place in the quarter finals of the Gloucestershire FA Challenge Trophy after a 3-1 win at Bristol Telephones on Saturday afternoon.

Winger Jason Milhench put the Reds into a 16th-minute lead as the visitors set the tone for the rest of the game.

Front man Levi Cox thought he had doubled the advantage but saw his 20th-minute strike chalked off for offside.

The second goal of the day soon arrived when experienced midfielder Matt Boucher kept up the charge, finishing well on 23 minutes after an assist from Scott Chilcott.

Fairford went into the break two goals to the good but wasted a chance for a third four minutes into the second period as Lee Smith struck a penalty over the bar.

A 76th-minute spot-kick, this time successfully converted, got the home side back into the game.

Ben Mitchell made a superb save moments later to keep his side in front and when Smith made amends for his penalty miss with the third Fairford goal of the day, the Reds were safely through to the next round.
