GFA Minor Cup (N) 1st Round
The Beeches 4
Windyridge Rovers 0
UNBEATEN Beeches took their league form into the first round of the County Cup with a 4-0 home success over Windyridge Rovers of Cheltenham.
The Beeches started slowly, endured a first-half penalty miss from top scorer Scott Smith and were held to 0-0 at the break.
In the second half, though, they found their feet and striker Matthew Walters opened the scoring a few minutes in.
Midfielder and main assist man Adam Leighfield put The Beeches 2-0 up after finding the roof of the net with a superb penalty.
It was a well deserved goal from the midfielder who has been plugging away all season and final got his name on the score sheet.
Leighfield then whipped in a dangerous free kick and top scorer Smith set the record straight by heading the ball home past a stranded keeper.
With Windyridge Rovers buckling under the incessant pressure, Smith got full redemption for his first-half penalty miss when he squeezed the ball home from a tight angle to make it 4-0.
