Cirencester League Div Two
Oaksey 5
Kingshill 0
FOR the first 30 minutes Oaksey totally dominated this game and it was surprising that the home side did not score more than Gareth Jones’ fourth-minute strike, which owed much to Dom Bird and Sam Hainsworth.
In fact, Bird had a number of mostly long distance shots throughout the first 45 minutes.
With Wayne Buckland and Sam Munton totally controlling the midfield, Oaksey’s flowing football was good on the eye.
However, towards the end of the half, with the home side getting a bit ragged. an under strength Kingshill came into the game with Luke Wilson forcing home 'keeper Harrie Wilson to touch a shot over for a corner, and then Mark Giles hit the post.
Three goals came from Jones after the break, though ironically Oaksey's flowing football dried up a bit. Jones is now the division's top scorer.
His third goal on 69 minutes owed much to “Strictly” as he did a pirouette around two defenders before outrunning them and finishing with a deftly taken shot inside the box.
A superb 20-yard strike from substitute Tim Fry completed Oaksey's comfortable 5-0 win.
Mention must be made of Ady Lane and Jamie Jobbins who did a lot of good work down the right.
The next test is on Saturday week when Oaksey visit second-placed Sherston who are in fine form but on a pitch that may not help Oaksey’s flowing game.
