A TEAM of over-65 walking footballers made up of players from Inside Football in Brimscombe, Malmesbury Marauders and Cirencester’s Phoenix Force – and called Cotswold Strollers for the day – entertained a team from Fleet, Hampshire.
The event proved a real success with two well-matched sides playing the game in the right way and with referee Bill Jordison well in control.
Bill was quick to clamp down on any attempts at 'running'
Playing games of 12 minutes each way, the Strollers won the first three games 1-0, 3-0 and 2-1 before Fleet triumphed the final match 1-0.
The games were followed by beers and food at The Greyhound in Siddington.
Hopefully a rematch will take place in the near future at Fleet where the home side will be a different force on their own wooden surface.
