Stroud League Div Four
Upton St Leonards Res 3
Avonvale United 0
AVONVALE fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of promotion-chasing Upton St Leonards Reserves on Saturday.
It was Vale who started the game brightly with chances aplenty for front men Jack Sprange and Richard Wood, but the build-up play was not rewarded with goals and the home side grew into the game as the first half went on.
Some great saves from Vale goalkeeper Chris Baker managed to keep it goalless at the break.
However, there was nothing Baker could do about the opening goal from Upton's number nine as he found the bottom corner with a smart finish.
Vale struggled to get back on the ball for the next 10 minutes and a second goal for Upton really killed the game off.
Forced to chase the game, Vale created many chances but it was Upton who sealed the win with a third goal to take them to second in the table.
