Cirencester Ladies 8

Bretforton 1

CIRENCESTER Ladies beat Bretforton 8-1 in their fourth unbeaten league game, putting on a strong performance with some excellent attacking play from the centre and wings.

All the goals were generated from great passing in and around the opposition goal with Kath Fry, Jess Robins, Jess Weston, Kath Jackson and Michelle Cobb all getting on the score sheet.

Bretforton looked threatening on the attack but were stopped by a well organised Cirencester defence. Midfielder Tabba Wood had a great game playing out of position at right back; her continual fighting for the ball and clearances set up many attacking opportunities.

  • CIRENCESTER Ladies thirds went top of the Severn Division 3 league with a 10 - 0 win over Bourton thirds, dominating the game with their opposition rarely venturing into their half.

Playmaker Phoebe Beal scored first from a short corner before setting up Sarah Ryan for the second, closely followed by three more goals before half time.

It was more of the same in the second half, with defender Ceri Hopkins scoring her second in as many games whilst a textbook pull back from the back line by Kate Randle was swept in by Sarah Ryan.

Three strikes were then followed by Annabel Springthorpe and Tilly Brown to complete the 10.

  • THE LADIES’ 2nds made sure their gap in fixtures were not wasted by securing a 4-1 win against Corsham in a friendly match.

Jane O’Dell scored twice whilst also providing the stand out moment with a reverse stick goal.
