STRATTON YOUTH ROUND-UP

Stratton Youth U17s 5

FC Calne Tigers U18s 2

THE U17s progressed to the next round of the League Cup after an eventful game which saw three players sent off.

After a tentative first 15 minutes Stratton began to take control of their rivals who play a division higher.

It took until the half-hour mark for Stratton to break the deadlock, Jethro Kingsley tapping in after Joe Speak had beaten two men and crossed from the left flank.

Stratton were disappointed to concede an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Stratton regained the lead soon after the break when Tom Pudifoot fired a right foot shot into the top corner and Speak soon made it 3-1 after rounding the keeper. At this point the Calne players began to show their frustration and their right back received a straight red card for lashing out.

However, this spurred on Calne and Michael Cook's handball on the goal line resulted in the sides being evened up.

Calne scored the resulting penalty but Stratton soon extended their lead again via a Sam Brewster header.

Calne went down to nine men when their centre back was dismissed for retaliation and this time Stratton took advantage as Brewster waltzed through the defence and scored with a side-foot finish.
