Berlin Marathon

EIGHT Running Somewhere Else club ladies travelled at the weekend to compete in the 43rd Berlin Marathon.

The course took in 10 Berlin neighbourhoods, starting and finishing near the Brandenburg Gate.

Others sights en route included the Siegessaule Column, Berlin Cathedral, State Opera House and Potsdamer Platz.

The course is flat and many world records have been accomplished there in previous years.

Joint first home for the club were Sharon Smith and Sally Jamieson who finished in 4:26.02, ahead of Sallie Clatworthy (5:10.07), Jacki Day (5:18.41), Jenny Hoffman (5:24.07), Tracey Pitts (5:25.35), Louise Abbott (5:46.54) and Caroline Terry (5:49.46).

Cirencester 10k

THERE was a great turnout from RSE at this year's Cirencester Park 10k on Sunday, a race which is part of the AAA Gloucestershire road race series.

The tough undulating course is run through the beautiful grounds of Cirencester Park.

First home for the club was Stephen Priestnal who finished in 40.40, followed by Russell Young (40.47), Timothy Hodgetts (41.43), John Buck (43.07), Graham Aitchison (47.07), Amelia Culshaw (47.16 – PB), Karl Breakspear (47.36 – PB), Ben Chapman (50.23), Anna Jones (50.29), Elizabeth Clark (51.36), Nadine Brown (55.09), Pauline Tilbury (1:02.16) and Amy Breakspear (1:07.27 – PB).

Cheltenham Half-Marathon

TRACY EDGINTON, Angela Lawrence and Val Cumberpatch all enjoyed fantastic results at the Cheltenham Half-Marathon on Sunday.

The course started just outside the racecourse at New Barn Lane, before taking the runners out and around the stunning areas of Cheltenham, and then finishing with a loop around the racecourse.

Tracy completed the course in 2hr 11min (PB) and was raising money for a cause close to her heart, 'The Brain Tumour Charity' in memory of her Dad who passed away two years ago.

Angela (2:13.21) and Val (2:23.59) also completed the course.

Bristol Half-Marathon

DAVE WHITLOW and Richard Marshall ran in the Great Bristol Half-Marathon on Sunday, the latest addition to the Great Run Series.

The race was founded in 1989 with the route taking in the sights around the city centre.

Dave finished in 1:37.30 and Richard in 2.13.54.

Black Mountain race

OLLIE HAZEL competed in the Black Mountain race starting from Crickhowell in Powys.

The course was a tough 'self navigation' event of 17 miles off road with a 5,200 feet ascent, taking in the breathtaking views of the Black Mountains.

Ollie achieved a brilliant result of 3:20.27.

Ridgeway Run

MATT LAMBOURNE and Elspeth Murano ran in the Ridgeway Run on Saturday, a fantastic scenic off-road run with a choice of 10 miles or five miles.

Matt completed the 10-mile course in 1:31.01 and Elspeth finished the five-mile course in 1:26.24.

Swindon – Martyn Joyce (20.50), Jonathan Lewis (24.46), Steve Sandercock (25.00), Claire Joyce (27.43) and Caroline Sandercock (34.24).

Tring – Henry Church (22.46).
