CIRENCESTER Hockey Club are hosting their fourth annual Junior Festival at Deer Park School tomorrow (Sunday) with the first games starting at 9.15am.

In total 36 teams will be taking part in both the under-10s and under-12s age groups. Although the festival is all about taking part, there will be winning boys’ and girls’ teams in both age categories.

Sides will be coming from three counties, including from Stourport in Warwickshire – the home club of 1988 gold medal Olympian Imran Sherwani.

Families wishing to come along are more than welcome and everyone can enjoy the Cirencester “Bake Off” cake stands as well as a BBQ later in the day. The event will see 325 children playing hockey from 9.15 until 5pm.

Cirencester Hockey Club’s junior section is thriving and provides opportunities for young people between the ages of six and 16 years to have fun and meet new friends while learning to play hockey in a safe and friendly environment.

The lead coaches are all England Hockey-qualified and all other assistant coaches are DBS-checked. The coaches’ aim is to make the sessions a fun experience while teaching the basic skills necessary to enjoy the game.

The junior section participates in many tournaments throughout the season. Training sessions start at 9am every Saturday morning.
