Stratton Youth round-up
Ferndale Rodbourne Colts U16s 5
Stratton Youth U16 1
FERNDALE and Stratton put on a fine game of football whose end result did not really reflect the balance of play.
Ferndale started the first half by applying plenty of pressure, which Stratton withstood. As the half progressed the visitors began to assert themselves more and frustrate the home team.
With chances at both ends it was a very even contest. In the 42nd minute Ferndale took the lead after a mix-up in the Stratton defence.
The second half continued in much the same way, with both teams battling hard. Ferndale began to assert themselves more, and midway through the half Stratton suffered a catastrophic collapse with Ferndale scoring four goals in eight minutes to go 5-0 up.
Stratton didn’t give up and a well-taken 89th minute penalty saw Stratton's Tiyree Philipson provide a consolation goal.
Stratton MoM: Karl White.
Swindon Juniors U15s 10
Stratton Youth U15s 0
FOR the first time this season the Stratton U15s failed to score but their defensive failings continued, Mathew Price was the Stratton MoM but they had no answer to Jack Payne and Gregor Thompson who scored four and three goals respectively.
County Cup
Wootton Rovers (Jaguars) U14s 8
Stratton Youth U14s 0
WOOTTON were much too strong for Stratton with a range of good passing and fluid movement off the ball.
Stratton goalkeeper George Tanner was the hero of the day, pulling off several outstanding saves which prevented the scoreline from being much worse.
THE Stratton Mini Section again found other clubs unable to field teams.
So there were only games for the U8s at Ferndale, where Finley Stratford and Louis Kingsbury were on target, and the U9s at home to Greenmeadow, with Finley Smith and Freddie Whitehead scoring.
There were also good performances from Jack Miller, Sami Zamiri, Freddie and Jayden Mullis.
