Ashton Keynes 4
Bibury Reserves 0
ASHTON KEYNES got their first points of the season when romping to a 4-0 victory over Bibury Reserves, writes Richard Sutton.
Pre-game there was a minute's silence paying respect to Ashton Keynes ambassador Ron Thomas who sadly passed away last week.
Ron was a long standing player and supporter of all Ashton Keynes sports clubs, and helped steer the development of the Bradstone sports field and pavilion.
Without his work and support Ashton Keynes would not have the opportunity to play today, and he was also a true gentleman.
With a number of new faces and the return of Gary Baverstock, Daniel Dodson and Louie Rastelli, it took the Ashton side time to click but they turned in an impressive second half display.
Ben Mutlow fired in a trademark penalty to give them the lead midway through the first half.
Barnaby Chadwick scored a tremendous solo goal, flicking the ball over the Bibury back four on the halfway line, before racing past them all to bury the ball in the bottom corner.
Darren Swadden opened his account for the season, collecting a brilliant Dean Wilson cross before placing it past the Bibury keeper.
Delroy Fallon completed the scoring with a classy Cruyff turn on the edge of the box before firing low and hard into the corner.
MoM: Barnaby Chadwick.
Ashton Keynes will look to continue this good showing when they host Wheatsheaf at home this weekend.
