Purton 1

Abingdon United 0

A GREAT penalty save in the 85th minute by Purton keeper Wesley Clark saw the hosts take all three points in a well-earned victory over Abingdon, writes Alan Eastwood.

Clark dived full length to his right to palm away the shot.

After going three league and cup games without finding the net, Purton collected the points when a great run and finish by Matt Bennett ended their goal drought.

This was a much better display by Purton and Bennett and Joe Hiscock went close with several other efforts in both halves.

Abingdon, although having a fair share of the ball, only had one real chance (penalty apart) which Clark deflected on to the woodwork.

Moreton Rangers 2

Purton Reserves 2

PURTON’S management team of Pete Temple and Daniel Allen felt their reserve side deserved all three points in the 2-2 draw at Moreton Rangers.

This was only Purton’s second game of the season having lost their other fixture against Brimscombe & Thrupp Reserves.

Recent signings Craig Kent and Mike Lees made their debuts and Ben Jarrett, an outfield player, kept goal. Ryan Keech notched both Purton goals.
