Fairford Town 7 Letcombe 0

FAIRFORD TOWN wrapped up an impressive weekend with a 7-0 home win over Letcombe on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Reds, who had come away 6-1 victors at Shortwood United Reserves on Saturday, showed no signs of letting up with a dominant display on a sun-soaked afternoon at Cinder Lane.

There were six different goalscorers in a side that showed just one change from Saturday, with Danny Hale replaced by Josh Morse in the front line.

It was a frantic start as Jason Milhench made it 1-0 with a well-taken finish before Nathan Blackford opened his account for the campaign with a nicely-placed free-kick.

Fairford kept up the pressure but had to wait until the stroke of half time for the third – although it was worth the wait.

A loose ball was met by Dan Drewett on the edge of the box and his first time right-foot volley went in off the post for a 3-0 half-time lead.

Milhench volleyed home his second just after the hour with the Reds enjoying plenty of possession and carving out chances aplenty.

When a free-kick from Jack Ellis cannoned back off the crossbar, Scott Chilcott was on hand to head home the fifth goal of the day after 79 minutes.

Ellis then got his name on the scoresheet with a low drive for the sixth, before substitute Chris Jackson rolled home the seventh on the stroke of full time.

Fairford Town are without a game on Saturday as their scheduled fixture with Highworth has been postponed due to the Worthians’ involvement in the FA Cup.

Fairford will next be in action against Abingdon United in the Perpetua Press Hellenic Floodlit Cup on Tuesday, September 6.
