ELLIOT MOULD will defend his SsangYong Touchtennis Masters title in St Michael's Park, Cirencester on Sunday, September 11.

The tournament will take place between 10am and 6pm and has attracted more than 30 of the country’s top players.

There will be the chance for members of the public to ‘have a go with a touchtennis pro’, while St Michael’s Park – home of touchtennis in the Cotswolds – boasts plenty of other facilities including table tennis, football and cricket nets, boule piste, putting and crazy golf.

A charity BBQ by the Cirencester Opportunity Group will be available throughout the day and there will be a display of SsangYong cars from local dealer, AutoVillage of Cheltenham.

“We are delighted to be continuing our support for this fast growing sport which is attracting interest from all ages, and we hope everyone has a lot of fun," said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK.”

Philip Reynolds, the event organiser, added; “We are hugely grateful to SsangYong. This is the third year of the event, and we are expecting four of the country’s top ten players to compete in the tournament.

"The tennis world is showing great interest in this new sport, not least as it is a means of getting more people involved, especially at a grass-roots level.”

Meanwhile, Alan Mezzetti, LTA products manager, said: “Touchtennis has grown dramatically within the last year. The game’s addictive simplicity and the ability to play it virtually anywhere by anyone, has brought a huge amount of interest."
