Bourton Roadrunners

INSPIRED by our GB Olympic team, Bourton Roadrunners decided to stretch their legs at the County Track & Field meeting in the Prince of Wales Stadium, Cheltenham, on Friday.

And despite having little idea about the rules for the relays they left with a haul of medals across the age groups.

The junior girls set the standard for the evening with Emily Field taking gold in the one mile race in 5.41, followed by Charlotte Foster (silver) and Gabby Jones (bronze) FVet 55 Ali Lane ran 6.50 and MV60 Tony Goodwill ran 6.57, both taking golds while MV70 Norm Lane made a big comeback in 8.34 to claim the silver medal.

The golds continued in the 10k for both MV45 Mike Smith and Tony Goodwill.

The relay teams all won medals: U15s 100m – Emily Field, Charlotte Foster and Gabby Jones ran superbly for silver; 100 and 400m LV55s – Margaret Hollamby, Ali Lane, Barbara Thomas and Lynn Hudson won gold; 100m and 400m MV60 team of Dave Turnbull, Tony Goodwill, Alan Thomas and Dave Spackman won gold, with Norm Lane substituting for Dave in the 400m.

Tony Goodwill did especially well as he was only coming to watch and ended up running in all the races.
