ERIN ANGEL riding Montreal Skyline gained the highest score of the evening – a hugely respectable 77.3% – to win Section 1B of the final Spring/Summer Dressage Series held at Rectory Farm on August 18.

The series and championships were once again kindly sponsored by Sydney Free Saddlery of Querns Lane, Cirencester. They provided generous prizes, vouchers and rosettes for the top three in each section.

The four champions received a beautiful sash in the saddlers' colours; black and white.

The first section (1A, with tests consisting of introductory A & prelim 7) was won by Chloe Griffiths and Vince. The duo scored 74.5%.

Chloe also enjoyed success on her other horse finishing third in the same section. Iona Fergus and Willow came second with their score of 72.5%.

Section 1B consisting of the same tests was won by a last-minute entry, Erin Angel. Nick Rodgers judged this class.

The second class had more entries and was hotly contested.

The competitors completed tests of preliminary, elementary and novice level. Lucy Dickenson and Lucky Country won their section for the 2A preliminary 18 test and narrowly missed winning the section 2B with a score of 71%. That was enough for second behind Vicki Ashmead and Orlando who claimed victory with a score of 72.1%.

Abbey Read and Jerry came second in 2A with a score of 68.5%. Abbey also came fifth in 2B. Hilary Gates enjoyed third place with her lovely mare Doris in the section. Ryan Hawkins snuck into third place on his second ride, Alice, with a score of 69.6%.

Thank you to Jackie Ellis, and all other judges.
