MINETY’S Fran Wilson scored a solid 23 runs as Western Storm chased down the Loughborough Lightning total of 124-7 to win by five wickets and make it into the Kia Super League final.
Wilson was only denied a bigger score and the chance to see the Storm to a winning score herself when she was caught spectacularly on the boundary by Aussie star Ellyse Perry with the score on 117-3.
Perry then took a wicket herself before England captain Heather Knight, who had steered her team to the brink of victory with 52 off 43 balls, chipped a catch to mid-off, which left Western nerves starting to jangle.
But the Storm, formed last winter by a ground breaking partnership between Somerset, Gloucestershire and the University of Exeter, stayed cool to seal a five-wicket win with three balls to spare and secure a meeting with the Southern Vipers in the final later this afternoon.
