Fairford Town 5
Hook Norton 0
FAIRFORD Town hit five unanswered goals for the second time in a week with a big home win against Hook Norton.
The visitors, who got the better of the Reds twice last season, had plenty of early chances but came up against a determined and resolute Fairford outfit.
The home side took an early lead with captain Sam Ockwell scoring his first goal in Fairford colours from close range.
Winger Dan Drewett doubled the advantage six minutes before the break with a low finish from the edge of the box.
A stunning save from visiting 'keeper Kurt Fox denied Danny Hale a third as the end-to-end action continued. Jason Milhench then flashed an effort across the face of goal with Jack Ellis going agonisingly close.
After going in 2-0 up at the break, Fairford emerged for the second period keen to add to their lead and Hale dispossessed Fox on the edge of the area and rolled the ball to Ellis who made it 3-0.
It was into the final stages that the fourth and fifth goal arrived. Hale struck a sweet low effort on 83 minutes before Milhench skipped past two defenders to leather home the final goal of a breathtaking afternoon for all of a red and white persuasion.
