POULTON Cricket Club have once again been given the honour of hosting a match between Gloucestershire women and the national side from the Netherlands.

The prestigious 50-over game takes place on Sunday, August 28 at Poulton’s Englands Ground with a 10.30 am start.

The Dutch side were very impressed with the ground and facilities at Poulton when they defeated Gloucestershire there in 2009 and were keen to return.

They beat Glos by four wickets with nine overs to spare.

Poulton CC chairman David Dunn said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Netherlands again.

“We were stunned by their technique and the high standard of their play when they beat Gloucestershire previously and it should prove a great game.

“We will have a marquee and a bar open all day and, of course, we would love to see a big crowd for the game as entry is free.”

Women’s cricket is thriving at Poulton CC who won this season's CDCA Women’s League.
