Longlevens 1

Cirencester Town 1

CIRENCESTER Town and Longlevens – the Hellenic Premier side guided by the manager of the Cirencester Arena, James French – shared the honours in the visitors' penultimate warm-up game of pre-season on Tuesday night in Gloucester.

The Cirencester starting XI had two changes from the team that faced Larkhall Athletic on Saturday as Harvey Rivers was unable to take his place in goal due to a slight injury; as a result Longlevens loaned Mark Harris to Town for the evening.

The other change was the inclusion of James Mortimer-Jones (unavailable on Saturday) in place of Elliott Green.

Early exchanges were even with Jon Else and Aidan Bennett linking particularly well down the Ciren right flank. Cirencester played some controlled passing football but were unable to break through a stubborn home defence.

Longlevens started the second half strongly and had three pots at goal within the first five minutes.

But it was the visitors who opened the scoring when a defensive header flew high into the air and as it dropped Charlie Griffin struck a superb volley into the top right corner.

The home side equalised 15 minutes later after Josh Westcarr launched a long throw into the box and when it reached Scott Montgomery he finished confidently with a well-struck volley inside the left post.

The game remained ‘end-to-end’ but neither side was able to add another goal.

The final pre-season fixture for The Centurions is at Salisbury of the Southern League South & West Division on Saturday.
