Gasket Guy British Skittles Championship

Cotswold Wags 298

Jolly Girls 298

THE Cotswold Wags of the Bibury FC alley have qualified for the Grand Finals of the Gasket Guy British Skittles Championship after playing out a draw with reigning champions, the Jolly Girls.

There were few fireworks from either side with only the home team's Catherine Poole skittling with any consistency.

Joanne Wilkinson's stick-up of 15 on the last leg gave the Wags a lifeline but things looked grim when Heather Maddy from the Jolly Girls required just a five to win the game.

Having already racked up 43 pins in total it seemed a formality.

Heather took out four pins with her first ball but missed completely with her last two balls leaving the match tied.

Highest score: Catherine Poole (43).

Highest stick-up: Joanne Wilkinson (15).

Bingo Babes 328

10cc quickly raced into a 44-pin lead after four legs.

The wheels then fell off as the Bingo Babes mounted a major recovery before going down by 17 pins.

Two good 50s from Brian Cooper and Steve Turner, ably backed up by Robert Stinchcombe, formed a solid base for 10cc.

Derek Thornton from Bingo Babes stole the show though with 53.

Ex-British singles champion Ken Wells showed signs of his old self after a dismal run of form.

Highest scores: Brian Cooper and Steve Turner (both 50).

Well Stacked 316

A SOLID team performance saw Two Taps run out victors in an entertaining match against Well Stacked from Coventry – the most enjoyable night so far in this year's campaign.

No spares were recorded by the home side, but only six pins separated the highest and lowest scores. Clive Osborne's top score of 46 was matched by his opposite number James Salmon.

10cc 323

Pirates of Possett 318

THE Pirates of Possett made their first visit to Bibury and it proved a very tight game.

10cc were slow to start but the Pirates failed to capitalise.

Brian Cooper top-scored for the first time this season for 10cc, while Rob Douglas shone for the Pirates. 10cc now travel to Portishead for the return fixture, before entertaining Mix of Poshtits in what looks like a shoot-out to qualify for the Grand Finals.
