LONDON 2012 gold medallist Laura Tomlinson is back on the winners’ podium.

While her successful Olympic compatriots Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester are in their final preparations before heading for Rio – as is her protégé Lara Griffith who has made Team GB equestrian squad as a travelling reserve – Laura has scored a high class win double in Deauville.

She collected both the Grand Prix (GP) and the Grand Prix Special (GPS) aboard Rosalie B, owned by her parents Dr Wilfried and Ursula Bechtolsheimer.

In Friday’s GP the pair earned a score of 71.360% and they carried this form into Sunday’s GPS to win with 70.549%, just ahead of France’s Bertrand Liegard and Star Wars who scored 70.314%. Both competitions were at CDI3* level.

It was Laura’s first victory since last September when she won a CDI2* in Perl, Germany on Unique.

Post-London, Laura retired her top two horses Mistral Hojris and Andretti H and started a family with her polo international husband Mark.

The couple were married in March 2013 and their daughter Annalisa recently celebrated her second birthday at their home in Oaksey.

Laura has been patiently bringing on some young horses at the family stables in Ampney St Peter and the Deauville double is the first indication yet that ‘Rosie’ could become a suitable world class replacement for Mistral Hojris.
