ALISON KELLY has been crowned ladies champion at Cirencester Golf Club after outstripping her rivals by 10 shots and more on Sunday.
The Ladies Scratch Cup is a 36-hole competition played as part of the Club Championship. After a fine morning, heavy rain in the afternoon made conditions very testing.
Kelly's two-round score of 157 (76/81) left her well clear of nearest pursuer Emma Brereton on 167 (85/82).
In third place came Blanche Neal, a further 10 shots adrift on 177 points (91/86).
Alison received her trophy from ladies’ captain Jan Stephens.
Birthday Bowmaker
TWELVE ladies from the club who are celebrating “BIG 0” birthdays in 2016 organised a Bowmaker competition last Thursday.
The ages ranged from 50 to 90 and each birthday girl had a team of four.
The winning team was captained by Chris Park and she was ably assisted by Emma Brereton, Bonnie Green and Margaret Davey to post a score of 82 points.
When all 12 teams had played the ladies retired to the clubhouse for a fine celebratory lunch.
June Medal
JANE BRODRICK defied a thunderstorm on Saturday to win the June Medal with an exceptional score of net 70.
Standard scratch was set up at 75 which makes her 70 all the more impressive.
In-form Jane has now had her handicap cut from 15 to 11 in the space of 10 days.
