SWINDON captain Jason Doyle led the Robins to a comfortable but not entirely convincing 52-41 win over Lakeside Hammers on Thursday.

The Hammers were missing two heat leaders in Andreas Jonsson and Kim Nilsson and stand-in skipper Richard Lawson endured a pointless night.

However, each of the home riders had a heat win although it was not until heat seven that Swindon looked like bagging the points. From then on it was a fairly routine victory with only Edward Kennett’s four wins offering much resistance.

Guest Craig Cook beat Doyle in heat 13 but the Australian was possibly already thinking about the Prague Grand Prix two days later.

Doyle did not come out for heat 15 which saw Josh Grajczonek and reserve Charles Wright suffer a 4-2 reverse.

Wright looked more comfortable while Rohan Tungate added only one point to his heat five win. He looked somewhat underpowered.

Justin Sedgman was back on form with a paid eight points while Nick Morris was undefeated by the opposition apart from his fall in heat six.

Stefan Nielsen had an expensive night with an engine blow out in race two, but he did recover to take a win later in the meeting.

The Robins are at Coventry on Friday and then host the Bees four nights later in Monday in a Sky Sports televised match at the Abbey with adult admission reduced to £10.

SWINDON 52: Charles Wright 10+1, Josh Grajczonek 10+1, Jason Doyle 9+1, Nick Morris 8+1, Justin Sedgmen 7+1, Rohan Tungate 4+1, Stefan Nielsen 4.

LAKESIDE 41: Edward Kennett 18, Craig Cook 10, Lewis Bridger 5+2, Lewis Kerr 4+2, Robert Mear 4, Richard Lawson 0, Kim Nilsson r/r.
