DANNY KENT was again among the points in round eight of the Moto2 world championship at Assen in the Netherlands – with some positive signs for the remainder of the 2016 season.
The reigning Moto3 world champion from Tetbury finished 14th, a place ahead of his Leopard Racing teammate Miguel Oliveira.
In the final laps Danny put on a charge to pass Mattia Pasini and Xavi Vierge and caught up again with Oliveira after a mid-race dip in speed.
Three laps from the end the rain made its forecast appearance and complicated matters as the two teammates battled for points.
The red flag brought an end to the race two laps from the end, the Japanese rider Takaaki Nakagami taking his first win while Kent and Oliveira took 14th and 15th respectively.
It was an unfortunate end to the race, particularly for Kent who fell as a result of another rider’s accident after the flag.
Kent said: “Not a bad race, probably one of our better races this year.
“On the first laps I was too slow and everyone got away. My pace during the race wasn’t too bad but again it’s one of those what ifs.”
