GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S women suffered a narrow six-shot defeat in the local derby with Herefordshire at Churchdown Bowls Club.
Three winning rinks came Gloucestershire’s way, the biggest margin coming from the rink of Tetbury's Joyce Wilkins, who along with Jackie Tuckfield (Henleaze), Elizabeth Webb (Cotswold) and Pat Marsh (Arrow) chalked up a 22-11 win.
Maddie Hale (Fairford) and Jenny Stanfield (Moreton) were also on a winning rink. Playing with Cindy Britton (GB Britton) and Gill Fry (Gloucester Spa) they cruised into a 13-6 lead over Jill Bowen in the first 10 ends and were never headed. Keeping up the advantage they won 19-12.
